10 Things I'll Miss

Just like that, 2 years and 2 months have passed for me in HR and here I am, writing my final entry for this HR blog... Sniff sniff.. I'm really not good with words so let the pictures do the talking!

There are SO many things I'm gonna miss about this place and they are.....

*drum roll*

1) My Desk!

I love my desk lah (and so do many people, I'm sure! haha). The desk at CS is going to be smaller and I am freaking out about where to display all my chio photos & postcards & cards & soft toys & barang barang (frivolous me)!

2) The Soft Toys!

Remember all the soft toy fights & soft toy speak we have (well at least for TAD!)? Especially the time when Lee Sar bought a HERD of (pirated) dinosaurs & each of us in TAD were given one? For info, I think HR is the level with the most soft toys & people call us the 'happy place'. Keep the tradition going hor! :)

3) The "Let's Mess Up Chee Huey's Desk to Annoy Her" Folks

To the rest of HR, you probably don't know some of the folks in HR have the hobby of "messing up" my desk just to annoy me. Haha. Each time I come back from a trip or leave, I'll wonder if I'm going to find my toys in some strange position... To the CULPRIT #1, I'm gonna miss this, very strangely!!

4) The Extra Perks of the Job

Being in TAD gave me certain perks & privileges like having a budget to lunch with newbies & interns, attending the Pioneer Series where I had the chance to listen to MM & PY speak live (wow) and best!...the Japan Study trip in 2007 where I had the chance to tag along with a PSC contingent to Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto (lovely!) to meet with some of the top universities in Japan. As tiring as it was, back-to-back meetings, filing call reports & sleeping at 2-3 am everyday, the experience was fantabulous, for the lack of a better word and further strengthened my desire for an overseas stint (which is why I'm moving on to CS now).

5) The Annual Art & Craft Period

Planning for Secretary's Day, shopping for materials & executing it - that I'm going to miss.

6) Career & Scholarship Fairs where I RULE (muahaha)

Despite all the whines & complains about scholarship & recruitment fairs, I actually do enjoy interacting with students and candidates a lot.

7) Events

2007 was a CRAZY year because we introduced 2 new, big-scale roundtable events for both recruitment & scholarships. Many many thanks to Shirlyn, Doreen, See Yun, Jennifer & Wendy for helping me to pack goodie bags @ Intercontinental on that Friday afternoon & shopping for stuff @ Concourse & coming down on the actual day to help out & of course, Pauline, for helping with the adminstrative work. And to the rest of HR who lent a listening ear & a helping hand during times when I freaked out over many issues - THANK YOU! The 2 events would not have ran smoothly without the help of everyone in HR. :) Xie Xie!

8) Celebrations

I think it's great that we celebrate the many happy things in life - birthdays, weddings, festivals. Keep it going!

9) The TAD Folks

Am going to miss the times that we gather to pig out; laugh ourselves silly over random jokes and acts; poke fun of each other (Lee Sar who always throws her stuff around the office and always making kissey noises with toys; Lynn the ang moh pai EDB idol who sings KTV & does "rao kou ling"; Becky the super patient, detailed slowpoke of the group; Shirlyn the little spitfire who has an eye for spotting EDB officers; Ming the drama queen who goes around with messy hair when she's super stressed (watch her hair in October!); Pauline the one who collects plastic and paper bags (according to LS!) and cows; See Yun the kind, gentle soul who likes sweet things & monkeys and me the neat freak; Doreen my MRT mate & the super cool one who never loses her temper).

I'm also going to miss the TAD folks lots because without Lynn & Lee Sar (who had loads of fun canvassing for me & got 3 AMDS, MD, a few EDs and scholars etc. to date Jon Lim @ MYR), I don't know if I'll ever find a date in EDB again. sob! :(

Last but not least, I'm going to miss.....

10) ALL OF YOU!

My wonderful time in HR was made possible by of each and everyone of you. I sincerely thank YOU for the laughter, joy, comfort, kindness and generosity, especially in times of (my) crisises.
Doreen, Shirlyn, See Yun --> still remember that time, long ago, when I was a crybaby & all of you comforted me in your own ways? *^_^* I was so touched and comforted lah.
That convinced me that what we have in HR are not just colleagues, but friends. :)
So yup, thank you for the friendship. And really, this is not goodbye because I am STILL in EDB!! And I will, in Wendy's words, "有空回娘家看看!"

:) cheers!
